Parliamentary oil and energy Commission revealed on Sunday, that the actual production of electrical energy does not exceed 40% , criticizing statements of Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Ministerial Energy Committee, Hussain al-Shahristani on achieving self-sufficiency in the production.

Shahristani said earlier that Iraq will begin exporting electric power soon after reaching self-sufficiency stage.

"Al-Shahristani said a few months ago that Iraq will begin exporting electric power after his reaching self-sufficiency," noting that "we will discuss this subject with the minister of electricity today and we will know the actual production of energy," The Commission's decision maker , Qasim Muhammad told "Shafaq New".

Mohammed said that "according to our information, the actual production of electrical energy so far did not exceed 40% of the actual requirement, so can Shahristani export electricity?"

The Oil Ministry says that the production of electric power reached about 10 thousand MW while Iraq needs according to their estimates to about 20 thousand megawatts of self-sufficiency of energy.

Rationing hours of power rate increased across the Iraqi provinces with the approach of summer and the Iraqis resort to alternatives to save energy they have adopted more than 15 years.
