Kurdistan Alliance talks about a real desire from Baghdad to end the outstanding issues
Friday, 12 July 2013 13:59
Alliance bloc in the Iraqi parliament confirmed on Friday that there is a real desire from the federal government and Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to resolve the outstanding issues between the two parties, noting that the joint committees will begin developing solutions to problems.
“The important thing in the talks between Baghdad and Erbil principally is the existence of a genuine desire to resolve outstanding issues, particularly those relating to Peshmerga and Article 140, the law of the demarcation of the administrative border between the provinces as well as oil and gas law,”the spokesman of the bloc , Muayad al-Tayeb told “Shafaq News”.
“We know that the legislative period of the parliament will end soon and that law might not be legislated as that will contribute to solve the differences between Erbil and Baghdad, but the important thing is to initiate legislating laws through committees formed between the two parties,” he added.
The head of Kurdistan region, Massoud Barzani arrived in Baghdad this week, accompanied by a high-level delegation and held talks with Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and officials in the government and the parliament.
Oil differences and others were the focus of the talks between the two sides when they met for a joint committee on resolving outstanding issues between the two sides as Maliki also discussed those files privately with the President of Kurdistan Region, Massoud Barzani
.
Barzani's visit to Baghdad comes as a complementary to the visit of the President of Kurdistan regional government (KRG), Nechirvan Barzani carried out recently to the Iraqi capital, in which he discussed the outstanding issues between the two sides as well as the budget law , the law of oil and gas, Peshmarga and security in the disputed areas.
