UNAMI: Iraq paid 11 billion dollars in compensation residual of Kuwait will close the outstanding issues between them

[ltr]The Special Representative of the United Nations in Iraq, Martin Kobler, Wednesday, expressed satisfaction that the outstanding issues between Kuwait and Iraq "has almost settled", stressing the need to enter the relations between the two countries, a new stage.[/ltr]
[ltr]Kobler said in a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) after a briefing given last night in front of the UN Security Council on the work of the UN mission to help in Iraq (UNAMI), headed by "I am very satisfied that the files between Iraq and Kuwait had almost settled."[/ltr]
[ltr]Kobler expressed satisfaction with the progress that has been made during the months ago in relation to the settlement of a number of decisions that keep them compensation decisions that must be implemented and when you pay $ 11 billion dollars in compensation, it will be closed as well.[/ltr]
[ltr]He called for "entering a new phase of relations between the peoples of the two countries and not only the exchange of politicians but members of parliament and youth groups and football clubs in addition to women's associations," he said, adding that now the right time, especially after resolving the outstanding issues in Chapter VII.[/ltr]
[ltr]Kobler expressed satisfaction with the progress that has been made during the months ago in relation to the settlement of a number of decisions that keep them compensation decisions that must be implemented and when you pay $ 11 billion dollars in compensation, it will be closed as well.[/ltr]
[ltr]The UN Security Council has voted unanimously last month to transfer the outstanding issues between Iraq and Kuwait in respect of missing Kuwaitis and stolen property to the United Nations mission to help (UNAMI), under Chapter VI of the UN Charter.[/ltr]
[ltr]Regarding the impact of Iran on Iraq, Kobler said UNAMI has an office in Tehran because Iran is a neighbor of importance in addition to it's "very important factor" in Iraq.[/ltr]
[ltr]Kobler said that "all the problems in the region are interdependent and we can not detach Syria from Iraq or Iran, so the international community should have a comprehensive overview of the region as a whole."
