The European Union today looking developments in Iraq

Inform the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Iraq, Nikolay Mladenov, today, the foreign ministers of the European Union, on the latest developments in Iraq in light of the deterioration in security in the country.

It is expected to take the minister during their meeting in Luxembourg, decisions related to the ongoing conflict in the country, especially for the humanitarian situation.

The European Commission stepped up its funding for humanitarian operations in Iraq in response to the humanitarian crisis caused by the displacement of large numbers of Iraqis from Mosul and other Iraqi cities by the conflict there.

According to sources in the European Union, the volume of humanitarian assistance to Iraq 12 million euros (16.5 million dollars).
