The Central Bank of Iraq revealed that its measures against currency smuggling, money laundering and terrorism financing have been praised by the international financial organizations and the International Monetary Fund, (ما دعاها الى رفع جميع الحواجز التي كانت مفروضة سابقا على العراق.) calling for lifting all barriers previously imposed on Iraq.

The director of financial operations and debt management at the Central Bank of Iraq, Dr. Mohammad Dagher told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) on Thursday that the exchange rate of the US dollar against the Iraqi dinar is stable for the past six months, denying what some media reported an increase in demand for Buying the dollar during the current year, to smuggle to some neighboring countries,

Noting that during the month of June, the sales of the dollar in the Central Bank of Iraq to half of the monthly sales for the months preceding the April, March and February, and also reduced the dollar sales in the first half of the year M in 2018 to a third of sales last year 2017.    http://ina.iq/archives/51297

Samson:  Abadi spokesman: continue to return smuggled money and assets from abroad

A spokesman for Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi's office Saad al-Hadithi said on Friday that the government is continuing its work to recover money smuggled by corrupt officials as well as financial assets in international banks.

Al-Hadithi said in a statement to Al-Maaloumah that "the government is seeking to recover all the Iraqi funds that are in the international banks, whether under the former regime or in the current period."

"There has been ongoing work and discussions since last years with governments of countries with financial assets to Iraq before 2003, " he said.

"The government is also seeking to recover the money smuggled by corrupt officials, where there is cooperation from Interpol and the World Bank in terms of money smuggled and money laundering," he said.   LINK

Samson:  Guterich: The UN is experiencing an unprecedented shortage of funding

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterich said today that the world organization is in a critical situation with regard to funding. 

Speaking at a press briefing, UN Secretary-General Stephane Dujarric said Guterich informed FAO staff today of his concern over the difficult financial situation of the organization.  Dujarric explained that the cause of the crisis lies in the fact that some Member States have not yet contributed their share in the financing of the Organization, noting that the income of the United Nations in the current phase of this year is worse than ever. 

Guterich called on Member States to meet their responsibilities in the area of ​​funding the Organization on time and in full size, stressing that the leadership of the Organization is considering ways to reduce expenses not related to staff costs. The United States, the largest financier of the United Nations, has cut significantly earlier this year its assistance to some UN institutions, primarily the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).  LINK

On Friday night, the world is witnessing the longest total lunar eclipse in the 21st century, with the Arab world being one of the best in the world to see the cosmic phenomenon. The eclipse from Europe, Africa and the Middle East will be visible between sunset and midnight on July 27, then between midnight and sunrise on July 28 in most parts of Asia and Australia. 

The total eclipse will be one hour, 42 minutes and 57 seconds, a good time for astronomers, especially in the summertime summer.  In the UAE capital Abu Dhabi, the moon will enter the semi-shade at 09:15 pm UAE time, with partial eclipse at 10:24 and total eclipse at 11:30, reaching a peak at 00:22 Saturday and ending at 01: 12.  While the partial eclipse will end at 2:19 am, the moon will emerge from the semi-shadow zone and the eclipse ends at 3:29 am on Saturday morning.

The total eclipse in Cairo will be at 9:30 pm local time, culminating at 10:22 pm. Before that, a semi-shadow eclipse that does not see the naked eye begins at 7:15 pm and continues until 8:14 when the partial eclipse begins, which can be seen with the naked eye.  
In Amman and Jerusalem, the moon enters the shadowy region at 8:15 pm Jordan and Palestine time, and the partial eclipse starts at 9:24 pm, with the total eclipse starting at 10:30, reaching a peak at 11:22, and the total eclipse ends at 12: 00 from Saturday morning, while the partial eclipse ends 1:19, and the moon emerges from the semi-shadow and wintry eclipse completely at 2:29 am.

Astronomers call the phenomenon a "bloody astronomy." This is because the sun's light penetrates the earth's atmosphere on its way to the moon and the Earth's atmosphere turns it into red as it is dyed, astronomer Andrew Fabian says. Where the sun disk is red at sunset."  

When the moon moves to the conical shadow of the earth, it turns from being sunlit to dark, but some light will reach the moon because it is broken by the earth's atmosphere.  "If you stand on the moon during this eclipse you will see the sun and then the earth will block the way to block the sun," Fabian said.
